Can Annive really be 18 months???
She had her 18 month checkup yesterday. She weighs 20 pounds 2 ounces (we finally got to 20!) and is 30 1/2 inches long. She's still very low percentage wise for weight but did move from 1.64% to 3% since her last appointment. For sure she'll be taller than me but I already expected to be the tiny one in the family. Probably the most exciting part of the appointment was she only needed an annual flu shot!
Developmentally, Annive has surpassed the 18 month goals. She can say 43 words; the doctor said 20 was the goal. She's putting 2 word sentences together; the doctor said this is a skill for 2-2 1/2 years old. Plus, she knows colors. She can't say all of them but can bring you the colored object when you ask for it. I'm so proud but promise not to be one of those annoying moms who always have to "one up" you with their own children.
Annive does have an antibiotic resistant infection that may require a referral to dermatology if it doesn't clear up in a week. We're trying a really strong medication now that will hopefully take care of all of it. The doctor also mentioned that there is the possibility Annive may have celiac disease (wheat allergy). The only symptom she has is poor weight gain but it's something to keep an eye on. The testing isn't that accurate for her age, and since she is slowly gaining we're not pursuing it now. I think she's fine.
As we were leaving the doctor's office, we were in the elevator with an elderly gentleman. He was talking to Annive, and she was playing Peek-A-Boo with him. He then said, "How old is she? Probably around 3?" I said, "No, she's 1 1/2." He replied, "I guess they didn't fix my eyesight today at my doctor appointment." I had to laugh. All of this about my tiny, 3% weight child.
