Scott, Annive, and I headed to Ohio and Tennessee for a week where we met my parents who flew. This was Annive's first major car trip; the longest one before this was 3 1/2 hours. Let's just say that she doesn't like to be strapped in since she can now walk/run. On the 2 days driving to Tennessee, I sat in the back middle seat (THE most uncomfortable seat ever) for all but 45 minutes. She did much better coming home; I suppose she knew what was coming and that the driving would eventually end.
While on vacation we saw my extended family, and this was also their first opportunity to see Annive in person. We were able to visit with Annive's Great-Great-Aunt Nevie in Ohio who gave Annive a beautiful baby afghan she had crocheted. In Tennessee we saw Annive's Great-Grandpa (Papaw), Great-Grandma (Mamaw), Great-Aunt Jo, Great-Uncle Wayne, Great-Uncle Ricky (Peanut), April, Chris, Kathy, Jordan, Dylan, and Willow (all 2nd and 3rd cousins). It was fun to watch Annive with all of them, and of course, she had them wrapped around her finger and ready to spoil her within 30 seconds. :)
Annive went to her first baseball game to watch the Reds play in Cincinnati. They won, unlike the Astros. She made it through a whopping 3 innings before we decided to leave. Really, Annive was only in the stands for the first half inning before my dad and Scott took turns walking around with her. We were hoping to get away from the heat and humidity in Houston but it was just as hot in Ohio as at home. Tennessee had cooler weather which was a nice change.
We enjoyed our trip, made lots of great memories, and had a lot of fun with family. Scott's already talking about a road trip for next summer!
In other news, Annive will have eye surgery on her left tear duct this Wednesday. Her surgery is now scheduled for 9:15 instead of 8:15. Her surgeon will probe her left duct open and insert a drainage tube that will be removed in 3 months. The surgery itself is 10-20 minutes but with anesthesia and recovery I expect we'll be there most of the day.
Several people have asked if there are any updates on my health. Right now the only update is that we're waiting for my next round of tests and results at the end of August. I finished my round of antibiotics for the possible infection that could be the cause of the elevated CA-125 level. I still feel great other than being tired from vacation and what I suspect was a cyst on my left ovary. I have a history of cysts and get them all the time, so it's not really a big deal. I'm expecting everything to be completely normal. I really want to be able to tell my oncologist, "See you next June!"
